Antiquity carved marble bust of a woman, possibly 1st - 3rd century Roman, most likely Athena (Minerva, in Roman mythology), the goddess of war, peace, wisdom and the Arts, depicted with hair pulled back and a Tainia diadem crown. Similar examples of the bust can be found in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and The British Museum. [Bust: 6 1/2" H x 5" W x 5 1/2" D; Overall: 11 1/2" H x 5" W x 5 1/2" D]. Losses to nose and face typical of artifacts of the period, due to defacing or erosion.
