**Originally Listed At $300**

North America, New Mexico, Spanish Colonial period, ca. 19th century CE. A remarkable wood crucifix comprised of 2 twisted tree branches with a leather strap and a hand-carved figure of Jesus. Christ is depicted traditionally with an emaciated body dressed in only a loin cloth and crown of thorns. His solemn visage is downcast, to further emphasize his suffering. Size: 12.4" W x 22" H (31.5 cm x 55.9 cm)

Provenance: private Don Phelps collection, owner Todos Santos Trading Post, Alamo, California, USA, acquired in 1986
