Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Yupik / Aleut, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A pair of hand-made baskets made from tightly coiled and stitched rye or beach grasses (taperrnat), both with dyed geometric patterns. Traditionally while men hunted and fished, women harvested grasses for weaving vessels and a myriad of other uses. Size of bowl: 9.25" Diameter x 2.5" H (23.5 cm x 6.4 cm)

Condition
Fraying to knob on lid, and some fraying to fibers to stiches near base of lidded basket, but tightly woven and great condition. Losses to some stitch fibers on rim and near bash of bowl, otherwise intact and good condition.
