Description
Showing a shepherd boy with crook and flute, accompanied by a cat, with sheep and a cottage in the distance. The name "Mary White" appears on the bottom of the eglomise surround, no doubt the creator of the piece. Eglomise glass surrounding the needlework picture is broken in nine places. All pieces are present but one is sliding out of place and jutting into the picture. No damage seems to have been done to the image. Gilt frame, approx. 12 1/2" x 14 1/4". Provenance: the estate of John Long, highly regarded Virginia antiques dealer and collector.
