English and Continental, 17th/18th century. Six (6) pieces, including: The Reverend John Wesley (1703-1791), painted by G. Romney,1789, engraved by M. Ward, matted under glass with wood frame. William Cavendish, Duke of New Castle (1592-1676), after Anthony van Dyck, engraved by George Vertue, published 1739 by J.&P. Knapton, matted under glass with gilt frame. Victor Bouthillier (1590-1670), French politician and clergyman, by Robert Nanteuil, engraving, 1659, matted under glass with gilt frame. Edward Sackville, 4th Earl of Dorset, Lord Chamberlain, after Van Dyck, by George Vertue, published 1742 by J.&P. Knapton, line engraving, matted under glass with ebonized gilt frame. Don Juan of Austria,by Robert Nanteuil, engraving, 1673, matted under glass with gilt frame. John Fisher, Bishop of Rochester (1469-1535), executed by HenryVIII for refusing to recognize Henry as the head of the English church. Engraving by George Facius after a portrait by Hans Hoblein the Younger from limitations of original drawings by Hans Hoblein. Published by Chamberlaine, London, 1812.
