Designed by Giovanni Mardersteig and printed at the Stamperia Valdonega in Verona. No. 416 of 680 copies.One of the greatest ethnobotanical monographs ever written. The thesis of the author, supported by a wealth of well-documented research, is that the hallucinogenic fly-agaric mushroom is identical to the divine plant described in the Rig Veda, the earliest religious text of the Indo-European cultures. The mystery of the identity of Soma had attracted researchers for generations for it is the oldest recorded sacred drug.
