"In Le Morte DArthur Beardsley learnt his job, but the result is no bungling student's work...If he had never illustrated another book, this edition of Morte DArthur could stand as a monument of decorative book illustration" (in The Twentieth Century Book, pp. 148-149). Beardsley was 20 years old when Dent first commissioned him with this project.

Joints just starting on Vol. I, some staining and wear, corners slightly bumped; a few cracked hinges, a few stains; very good or better.
