Neiman is one of America's most iconic artists, being known for his usage of vivid hues and impressionistic takes on sporting events, along with being a contributing artist to Playboy magainze for decades. LeRoy Neiman was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on June 8, 1921. LeRoy grew up in Saint Paul?s hardscrabble, blue-collar neighborhood of Frog Town. He showed an early knack for drawing?and selling. Creating posters for local merchants to advertise their store sales, LeRoy peddled his work for a nickel apiece. He picked up extra change by drawing ink tattoos on the forearms of his schoolmates. After working as a cook in WWII, Neiman used his G.I bill to get himself into Saint Paul Scool of Art alongside the likes of soon to be acknowledged, Robert Clark, otherwise known as, Robert Indiana.
