Leo McDowell, British, 1936 to 2011, mixed media painting on paper depicting a still life with dishes, a bird, a butterfly, and fruits. Signed, lower right. Framed. Leo McDowell was born and grew up in the North of England. After reading Modern Languages at the Universities of Manchester and Cambridge, he studied History of Art at Innsbruck University. He spent many years teaching and painting in the Middle East. His works portray images of antiquity, timeless seascapes, and Mediterranean landscapes. In 1985 he was elected as a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. In 1991 he was elected as a member of The Council of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. He has held successful exhibitions in Europe, The United States, and Japan. One of a kind artwork.
