Description
Buddha Shakyamuni is standing in samabhanga with his left hand raised and the right arm stretched downwards near the hems of his garment, dressed in a Samghati robe with a belt around his hip, the face with a serene expression, gentle smile and incised eyes, flanked by elongated and pierced earlobes and the hair in tight curls above an ushnisha.
Provenance: From an old private collection in Bavaria, Germany, assembled since the 1960s.
Condition: Extensive wear, signs of weathering and corrosion, obvious losses, cracks, old fills and repairs. Ancient heat damage. Fine, naturally grown patina with malachite encrustation. Displaying remarkably well.
