Description
China. Heavily potted, the tall slender body rising from a flat foot to a waisted neck with everted rim, the gently curved sides finely decorated in underglaze blue as well as black, iron-red, emerald-green and aubergine enamels, with a stern official riding a horse under a parasol carried by the attendant behind him, surrounded by further attendants and musicians, the procession led by two warriors, greeted by two scholars, in a rocky landscape with gnarled pines. The neck decorated with flowers blossoming from craggy rocks enclosed between a hatched band and the brown-washed rim.
Provenance: From a private collection in Zagreb, Croatia.
Condition: Some wear and manufacturing irregularities, minor glaze crackling, small nibbles to the rim, minor rubbing and few losses to enamels. Old repairs with associated overpainting.
