Later brown morocco over grained green cloth, raised bands, gilt lettering.Amended and elaborated initial translation into English of the memoirs of Zehir-ed-Din Mohammed (1483-1530), conqueror of India, who raided the land from 1519-1524, captured Delhi and Agra in 1526, and established the Mogul dynasty. The original manuscript was in Jaghatai or Chaghatai Turki (Baber Mohammed's native language); the manuscript was sent by Baber to a friend in Kabul, from which several contemporary and later transcriptions were made (one of which used by Leyden and Erskine for this translation). Minor wear and rubbing. Front board almost detached. Prelims loose. Occasional spotting.
