ANTIQUE VIOLIN AFTER ANTONIO STRADIVARI (ITALIAN, C. 1644-1737), spruce top, figured maple sides and back, ebony fingerboard currently detached, etched "E.V.V." initials to back of pegbox, interior with printed label which reads, "Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis / Faciebat Anno 1680" with a printed "A [cross] S" at the end, together with a bow. 19th/early 20th century. Violin 23 1/2" LOA.
Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
Condition
Fair to good overall condition with expected usage wear and scattered surface scratches, possibly one or a few cracks and/or repairs, fingerboard currently detached but included, bow stick with a crack at base between frog and screw, lacking hair.
