FRAME SIZE: 27 X 9. Katherine Lawrence, a native of Fairfield, Connecticut, trained at Connecticut Dance School and The Harid Conservatory, where she graduated as Valedictorian in 1998. She joined Ballet Internationale, Indianapolis in 1999, and quickly rose to the rank of Soloist. In 2004, Ms. Lawrence joined Ballet West where she is currently a Principal Artist. She has also performed with The Universal Ballet of Korea, The Hartford Ballet, and as a guest with numerous companies and schools. Katherine has been a guest performer with The Universal Ballet of Korea, the Hartford Ballet, Canyon Concert Ballet and Peoria Ballet. In the summer of 2007, she appeared at Perry-Mansfield’s New Works Festival where she performed in new choreography by Darrell Grand Moultrie, including the pas de deux Everlasting Heights, which was created for Katherine and her husband, former Ballet West dancer Aaron OrlowskiChristiana Bennett was a member of the Commonwealth Ballet between 1997–98.[4] She also performed with the Pacific Northwest Ballet and was a guest artist for the City Ballet of Boston.[1] She joined Salt Lake City based company Ballet West in 1999.[3] It was in 2012 that she became well known, when as prima ballerina for Ballet West, she appeared in the reality television series Breaking Pointe on The CW. She said that the series had the effect of showing the human side of ballet, "They got to see the good, the bad and the ugly."[2] During the second season, the breakdown and eventual breakup of her marriage to fellow dancer Christopher Ruud was shown.[2][5] Despite this, they remained professionally amicable and performed together in the world premiere of the ballet "Façade".[2] After 16 years with the company, Bennett retired from ballet in 2015 at the age of 34.
