Item Details
Description
Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer Empire (Angkor culture), ca. 12th to 14th century CE. A beautiful tinned-bronze Khmer mirror, still maintaining a high degree of polish, with a beautiful patina. Mirrors like this were often used in magic rituals, on altars, to inspire the viewer to reflect on the inner nature of things. This example presents a perfect circular form - the recessed side with concentric incised circles tracing the border - and gorgeous green patina that is remarkably reflective. Bronze objects like this one were signs of prestige, owned by the wealthy and elite in Khmer society. Size: 5.2" Diameter (13.2 cm); 8.5" H (21.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
