Description
The White Vending Machine Co. patented the "Happy Jap" chewing gum machine on August 26, 1902. The machine came in two versions; this example is the stick gum version, where the stick was vended lengthwise through the teeth of the "Happy Jap." Made out of cast iron, this Happy Jap is in original paint. CONDITION: The paint shows the original patina and the aged look of the machine has great appeal. This is a very difficult machine to find in original paint with a complete working mechanism. This example has a replaced mechanism. Reference: "Silent Salesman Too" by Bill Enes, p. 151. Working. Condition: (Good) Dimensions: 10" X 10" X 15"
