C. 1920. This is a motion attention getter display from the Character Display Company of Chicago IL. This example has a mechanical bell ringer that garners the patrons attention while turning the pages of the advertising book in front of him with various ads that could be changed depending on the promotion. CONDITION: All original with the exception of the ad pages, which were added to the display. It is electrical operation with seventeen movements, including face, head, eyes and mouth. There are areas of wear from age, original front brass ID tag and partial rear instruction label. A wonderful original example. PROVENANCE: From the lifelong collection of Bill Howard.
