Description
A very little is known about this early German figural vending machine that vended cigars. We have also seen a French version of the same machine that vended chocolate cigars. Wooden construction with a cast white metal guard. Upon depositing English penny and pushing the lever below the guard, he will turn around and pick up a cigar and return it to the forward position. There is an ad for this machine in a reproduced catalog of Ernst Holzeissg Nache offering choice of coinage, country and optional match dispenser. CONDITION: The mechanism is complete and operational, the paint and graphics are all original, the instruction sheet is most likely an aged replacement. There is wear to the machine, paint loss and oxidation to the metal components, however it has a fantastic look and is a stunning example of early vending. PROVENANCE: From the lifelong collection of Bill Howard. Condition: (Good) Dimensions: 26" x 8" x 8"
