Description
A very impressive Ottoman Empire silver metal ring. It features a raised rectangular frame with an intaglio in red hardstone depicting a scorpion. The intaglio decoration served as a stamp or seal, illustrating a protective symbol or the owner's heraldry. Four silver pins frame the stone. The raised frame has a trapezoid shape and is decorated on all sides with twisted lines resembling foliage. The shoulders are modeled in the form of rectangular bars with incised curves while the ring band is large, tapering to the rear and also decorated with similar leaf motifs.
