A "SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL" GEORGE III STYLE PARTNERS' DESK, AUTHORISED BY THE NATIONAL TRUST OF ENGLAND AND WALES, FOR DR. DAMON WELLS, CBE, LIMITED EDITION, MID/LATE 20TH CENTURY, handcrafted mahogany and brass, the inset tooled burgundy leather top writing surface within molded edges, over a waist fisted with three cockbeaded drawers, three of each on opposing sides, one drawer interior is compartmented at right, having brass escutcheons and drawer pulls, the whole is raised on square tapered legs ending in brass sabots on brass casters, with an engraved bronze plaque, "Sir Winston Churchill's Library Writing Desk Authorised by The National Trust of England and Wales. A limited edition Reproduction Handcrafted for Damon Wells," from a limited edition of 250, number 166. Height: 30 1/2" Width: 66" Depth: 37 1/2"

Other Notes: Dr. Damon Wells, CBE (Honourary Commander of the Order of the British Empire), (1937-2021) a descendent of Daniel Boon, a frontiersman, and a native Houstonian, Dr. Wells descends from a Texas Revolutionary family, his ancestors having fought in the Texas Revolution at the battle of San Jacinto and Bexar, graduate, and valedictorian addressee of Kincaid School, a graduate of Yale, Oxford and Rice Universities, Trustee of the Winston Churchill Foundation-America, Associate Fellow at Johnathan Edwards College among numerous other accolades; he was a philanthropist, a distinguished and honorable American holding myriad trustee seats, his contribution to business, history, and culture countless. The Right Honourable Sir Winston Churchill, KG, OM, CH, TD, DL, FRS, RA, Prime Minister to the United Kingdom 1940-1945 during World War II, a member of the English Parliament, Nobel Prize for Literature awarded 1953, supporting Anglo-American relations and diplomacy among many other public services performed for the British Crown and commonwealth.
