Description
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR IN-HOUSE SHIPPING. Yankton Sioux, Southwestern Montana, were the only nation of the Great Plains to do twisting of fringe in their leather work. Includes documentation to Chuck Winterheart Reddick including artist description, April 2003. Shirt made of five deer hides that have been stained, cut and stitched by hand and painted. Shoulder width 22". 43" long. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of James L. Stanfield, Veteran National Geographic photographer (1937-2023). Mr. Stanfield was one of the world's most outstanding and respected photographers. He covered stories in over 120 countries and was the first to have a retrospective book on his career, Eye of the Beholder (1998), a record of his almost three decades behind the lens. He won over 40 major awards including Photographer of the Year (White House Photographers Association) in 1970, 1977, 1982, and 1988.
