Old/antique Mongolian Bodhisattva . Wonderful expression on this provincially cast piece. Figure and base cast separately. Sits 5-1/8" tall not including the new custom base. Probably made 50 to 100 years ago for local spiritual practice; shortly after the Soviet takeover in the 1920's. At that time, sometimes due to difficult conditions, the casting was not as refined, but the deep spiritual feeling shines through the face. Unusual alloys were used, especially in the early years after the communist takeover, as they used whatever metal was available. Rare authentic piece used for practice.
