Superb 17/18thC. Hindu figural oil lamp, with a sublime face. Stands 11 3/5 inches tall, custom base adds almost another 2 3/4 inches in height. Cast from a very high quality alloy, possibly containing precious metal. This is the best of this type I have ever seen in the 25+ years I have been collecting and selling Asian sculpture by far. The wear has greatly increased her charisma and amplified her spiritual energy. The piece is incredibly heavy for her size. An all time favorite that has been with me for 20+ years. It was the signature piece from the collection it came from- a lifetime collection this type of figural oil lamp. I purchased about a dozen of the best examples in the collection (of which this was the best) when the Southern California owner was selling the collection in the 1990's before retiring to Mexico.SPECIAL!!!!!
