A VERY RARE CHINESE EXPORT TEAPOT AND COVER WITH THE AMERICAN GREAT SEAL
Jiajing Period, circa 1800
The cylindrical teapot decorated with the Great Seal of the United States, the open wing eagle with a vertical striped shield body, the ribbon inscribed 'E Pluribus Unum' under a ring of stars framed by the rays of the sun, the opposite side monogrammed 'CVL' under a blue border, the vessel fitted with a long spout and double-strapped handle, the blue border bands repeated near the rim and the vessel and cover, mounted with a gilt acorn finial.
5 7/8in (15cm) high, overall; 10in (25.4cm) across (2).
