Beat the décor competition with this pair of rare Joseon Dynasty beauties! These 19th century chest-stackers are nothing if not Amazing with a capital "A" - decked out in lush, eye-catching red lacquer. Let your style shine with these utterly exquisite antique stacking chests!

A nice size as each chest is 56 cm high and 77cm in width.

With small front double doors on each.

Featuring beautiful brass bounded corners & fixtures.

With brass carry handles on the side and front.

Made from wood with red lacquer finish.

Origin from Korea.

The red lacquer is a resin made from the sap of the Rhus verniciflua tree.

A feature that you will especially love are the brass butterfly hinges.

It has the original paper lining inside.

They are relatively light making them easy to carry around, unwrapped weight around 10kg each approximate

So practical & beautiful.

Circa Joseon Dynasty late end of 19th century.

The Joseon dynasty (1392–1910) was founded by the powerful Goryeo (918–1392) military commander Yi Seong-gye, who named it Joseon. Yi Seong-gye moved the capital to Hanyang (now Seoul), and allied himself with a group of reform-minded Confucian scholars, who reorganized Korean society using the teachings of Confucius as their guiding principles. These teachings emphasized order and peace based on the cultivation of harmonious interpersonal relationships and proper conduct.

Condition report.

Offered in overall fine used worn condition.

Having various charming patina noticeable wear, tear, scratches, stains, losses, holes, warping, distressed fading to the wood, chips in places, some brass mounts are missing commensurate with usage & old age.

1 new brass leaf latch locking pin has been fitted on each. 1 carry handle is damaged and loose.

Also some repairs have been made to some brass mounts with new brass stud pins being fitted.
