Classical Giltwood Mirror
ca. 1829-1835, attributed to Isaac Platt, New York, decorated with fleur-de-lis-carved corners, each side with a flattened baluster decorated with reeding, carved end caps and carved rope-twist bands.

A similar mirror attributed to Platt is in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Wing, New York, New York. Platt manufactured and retailed mirrors on lower Broadway from 1815-1843.

In as found condition. There are scattered losses and chipping to the gesso along the edges. Other losses to the details along the top frame. The mirror plate appears original. Has cloudiness and imperfections, consistent with age. There is a large chip to the lower left corner tip.
