Pauline Boty (1938–1966) was a British artist and one of the leading figures associated with the British Pop Art movement in the 1960s. Born in South London, Boty studied at the Wimbledon School of Art and the Royal College of Art.Boty's art was characterized by its vibrant colors, bold compositions, and a playful yet critical engagement with popular culture and contemporary society. She is considered one of the few female artists associated with the Pop Art movement, which included artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.Boty's work often incorporated collage elements, including images cut from popular magazines, newspapers, and advertisements. Her subject matter ranged from celebrities and movie stars to political figures and social issues. Some of her notable works include "The Only Blonde in the World," "It's a Man's World I," and "Babe Rainbow."In addition to her artistic pursuits, Pauline Boty was involved in the burgeoning cultural scene of 1960s London. She was associated with the "Chelsea Set," a group of artists, musicians, and writers who were part of the Swinging London cultural milieu.Tragically, Pauline Boty's career was cut short when she died of cancer at the age of 28 in 1966.
