A MASSIVE PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY GERMAN SILVER AND GLASS CLARET JUGS, C.1890
the antique late-19th century pair of German impressively large solid silver mounted on glass wine jugs, magnificent and highly decorative, the clear-glass body beautifully cut, the silver mount applied with foliage and grapes, the handle is realistically modelled as grapevine, the body with a hand hammered effect through-out, hinged cover applied with a grapes, leaves and a scrolling thumb-piece finial. Hallmarked German Silver 800M (800 Standard silver purity), Maker Posen (Lazarus Jacob Posen, founded in Frankfurt 1869)
