Nien Cheng 念鄭 or Zheng Nian 鄭念 (January 28, 1915 - November 2, 2009) was the pen name of Yao Nien-Yuan (姚念媛). She was a Chinese author known for recounting her experiences during the Cultural Revolution in her memoir Life and Death in Shanghai.
ARTIST BIO: Su Manshu 苏曼殊 (September 28, 1884 - May 1918)whose original name was Su Jian and whose courtesy name was Zigu. Manshu was his religious name after becoming a monk. He was born in Yokohama, Japan. He was a modern Chinese writer, poet, and translator. In 1896, Su Manshu learned English from Spanish pastor Dr. Luo Bi Zhuang Xiang. From 1907 to 1908, he had translated famous works such as "In Praise of the Sea", "Going to the Country" and "Elegance to Greece". His representative works include "The Story of Broken Hong and Zero Wild Goose". Su Manshu was good at poetry and painting throughout his life, and he was proficient in Japanese, English, and Sanskrit. He was a versatile man and had made achievements in various fields such as poetry and novels.
