Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Moon Vase. Potted in moon vase, thick and tall, with bulbous lower region, moon belly, sweeping up into a slender neckline and straight mouth rim, emerge two archaic ruyi handles flanked from neck to the shoulder rim, create majestic handles, raised on short rectangle foot base with slight concave footing. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color, depicted of abundant flowers blooms interspersed foliage and scrolling interlocking tendril. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design.
