The estate of James Berndon (1931 - 2017) after the passing of his loving spouse the collection has been placed in our care. He served in the military during the Korean conflict, After military service he was employed By a major communication company where he spent times in the Asian countries His interest of the fine artwork on porcelains created his desire to collect various items over his career.

2 Pairs of Republic Period Porcelain Hat stands. Each porcelain potted in a tall cylindrical body, slight deep, close mouth lip and raised on round foot base concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against famille rose design color, depicted of magpie birds hanging on the sturdy branch trees with abundant blossom and elders playing with a young boy bellow dense tree with Chinese calligraphy lettering inscriptions poems. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye.One of the pair Under-base bears a reign mark, a four under glazed red script characters reign mark, enclosed within red square lines.
