Description
Shosai Ikkei, Japanese, active ca. 1870, ukiyo e woodblock print on paper depicting a scene with a horse in a courtyard from the series of explanatory illustrations, chapter 55. Inscribed with calligraphy, upper right. Two red seal with calligraphy lower right, and upper to the center.Ikkei Shosai was a pupil of Hiroshige III. His woodblock prints show mostly views of the radical Westernization of Tokyo during the Meiji period, 1868 to 1912. Antique Asian and Oriental Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
