This screenplay (based on Seven Keys to Baldpate (1913) by Earl Derr Biggers) has numerous inscriptions or signatures - this was from the collection of cast member Louise English (b. 1962), but had been given to her by the film’s camera operator, John Simmons (b. 1949, credited as “John Simmonds”). Nearly all inscriptions are on the title-page, recto and verso, including: “Dear Louise How lovely working with talented you. Love Vincent [Price].”, “with all my love and gratitude and every wish for your future career - Michael Armstrong XXX”, “Louise may God’s blessing be with you always. In all sincerity Peter Cushing ‘82”, “To Louise, - A Thing of beauty and a joy forever. All good wishes John Carradine”, “To louise with love + lust, Always, Christopher [Lee]”, “Sparkle in yer eye. The U.K. poster for this horror film proclaimed “The Screen’s Masters of Terror, Together for the First Time…” being the first time Cushing, Lee, Price and Carradine all worked together, although this is the 24th and final time Cushing and Lee worked together. A wonderful, unique item featuring signatures and inscriptions by the giants of 20th century film horror.
