Unmarked, early pre-photographic reflecting prism, the optical head of a mobile camera obscura, for projecting landscapes or architecture in portable tent-camera obscuras, height of the brass-bound optic 19 cm, diameter 69 mm, focal length approx. 65 cm, sharp image, prism with edge chips at the corners, prism attachment loose. - Literature: E.H. Schmitz, "Handbuch zur Geschichte der Optik", Vol. 1, Bonn 1981, p. 301. - A rare and sought-after exhibition piece on the early history of photography.
