French Art Deco Polychrome-Patinated Bronze "Dutch Maid" Bookend by Etling et Cie., circa 1920s 1930s, on green marble base, in the form of a lowlands maiden in traditional dress, leaning forward with arms extended to support the weight of books, the rear hem of the skirt signed "Etling - Paris." 8" H x 7" D x 4" W. Provenance: From a Manhattan collector. Note: The Etling et Cie. firm, founded by Edmond Laurent Etling (French, before 1909 - d. 1940?) was based in in Paris at 29, rue de Paradis, and both produced and retailed high quality decorative bronze items in the 1920s and 1930s. Etling was the firm which produced the sculptures for Chiparus.
