Circa 1900, carved oak. Inscribed 'Peter Rendl, Oberammergau, Bavaria'.
Note: Peter Rendl, the actor that played John from 1890-1900, in Obermmergau's Passion Play, did business between play seasons selling wood carvings in London. He learned his artistic trade under the guidance of Ludwig Lang and the drawing master Anton Lechner.
