Description
Manufactured in 1980 to commemorative the Olympic Games. Full size 1911 ACE chambered for .22 LR. Blued and matte finish. 5" barrel with blade front sight and rear adjustable notch sight. Left side features gold etched slide with banner "1980 OLYMPIC GAMES MOSCOW, RUSSIA", scrollwork, Olympic runner and Russian flag. Rear of the slide has gold etched scroll and coat of arms. Right side of the slide features gold etched slide with banner "ACE .22 LONG RIFLE/COLT HARTFORD, CT", scrollwork, Olympic runner and Russian flag. Rear of the slide has gold etched scroll and NRA logo. Pewter engraved and embossed grip panels and stamped inside "designed + copyrighted by Sid Bell - Tilly N.Y. 1978". Includes original factory 10 round magazine with gold etched "COLT .22 LR" stamped on the base. Comes in an oak presentation case with red velveteen lining and brass plate etched "The Important Thing In The Olympic Games Is Not Winning But Taking Part." The lid has a brass plate etched "1980 OLYMPIC GAMES" in the center and bottom right corner has the brass Colt Custom coat of arms. Condition
Retains 95%+ blued finish with polished slide turning to plum. Gold etching is 90%+. Good bore and mechanics, possibly unfired. The case shows a few very faint dings.
