Edward Berge, American, 1876 to 1924, patinated bronze sculpture, Duck Mother, depicting a young child holding a duckling, standing above and gazing downward at a mother duck with outstretched wings and an open beak, who is gazing upward at the child. Mounted on a circular shaped base. Signed, E. Berge, and copyright, on the base. The sculpture is adorned with olive green patina. Edward Henry Berge was a sculptor known for his bronze monumental works and figures, created in the traditional manner in contrast with the avant garde work of his contemporaries.
