An antique German Meissen porcelain basket or breadbox featuring an oval shape with a perforated design and blue and white paintings. With two woven handles. Circa the late 19th century. Hallmarked. Meissen, a manufactory founded in 1710. For a long time, it was a leading enterprise producing hard porcelain. The famous underglaze mark of Meissen porcelain is the two crossed blue swords from the coat of arms of Saxony. Crossed swords have been a symbol of the manufacture since 1731.
