KHALIFA II: (1879-1960) Sir Khalifa II bin Harub Al-Busaidi. Sultan of Zanzibar 1911-60. A rare fountain pen ink signature of the Sultan, in Arabic, on an 8vo sheet of feint ruled stationery, with five Zanzibarian postage stamps affixed above the signature and an A.N.S. by Lieutenant Colonel J. C. Alexander, Private Secretary to the Sultan, at the foot of the page, dated at The Palace, Zanzibar, 5th August 1959, and stating, in full, 'Above is His Highness' signature. He always signs in Arabic script'. Lightly laid down at the upper edge to a slightly larger card and with some light overall creasing, otherwise about VG
