WILHELM KARL: (1864-1928)
WILHELM KARL: (1864-1928) German Prince, Duke of Urach. In June 1918 the Duke was elected as King of Lithuania, with the regnal name of Mindaugas II, although never assumed the crown. An early vintage signed sepia carte-de-visite photograph, the albumen print depicting the young Prince seated in a full-length pose. Photograph by Mahler Buchner of Stuttgart and bearing their imprint to the verso. Signed ('Wilhelm de Wurttemburg, Duc d'Urach') by the Prince in a juvenile hand in fountain pen ink to the verso and dated at Monaco, 6th May 1874, in his hand. One very small dark ink blot appears to the base of the image. VG
