Southeast Asia, Philippines, Spanish Colonial Period, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely wooden santo of the Virgin Mary wearing her traditional blue mantle with a gold-colored hem as she holds her hands together in prayer and leans to her right. Petite remains of an iron halo rise from her shoulders. Her verso is left unpainted, suggesting she was once part of a relief, and her hands were likely sculpted from ivory. Size: 4.3" W x 11.9" H (10.9 cm x 30.2 cm)
