Central Asia, India, Naga culture, ca. mid-20th century CE. A pair of light, red and black beaded necklaces made with dozens of rosary peas (Abrus precatorius). The Naga people are a combination of tribes in northeastern India and northwestern Burma; during the time that this necklace was made, they still led a very traditional lifestyle and engaged in headhunting. Each is: 40" L (101.6 cm)
