Persian Painting of a Musician Playing the Lute, probably 18th century or earlier century in date, is is attributed to a member of the Behzad family of famous painters. It is delicately painted with fine lines defining the musician, his clothes and lute. His hair and poetic expression is delineated with fine lines and subtle shading. Delicate shades of color are used throughout the composition. Gold accents the flask and bowls serving pomegranates in the foreground.
