Description
Chinese Yixing Teapot, modern, represents the tradition of Yixing pottery created as early as the Neolithic period in the Jiangsu Province. Teapots made out of the clay in this region date back as early as the 16th century. The kilns produced tea wares that were highly admired by tea devotees. This teapot, like all Yixing vessels, are hand made rather than thrown on a wheel. This melon-shaped vessel is simply decorated with a lotus plant with single bird perched on the stem. An inscription can be found on the other side of the pot. The potter's seal is stamped into the bottom of the teapot. In fitted cloth box.
