Italian School, 19thc. A leather bound folio containing 31 finely painted veduta watercolors of famous named Grand Tour sites, with temple ruins and other sites of interest, showing tourists inspecting the views. Including the areas of Agrigento, Syracuse, Segesta, Palermo, Selinunte, Catania, Salerno, Capua, Puglia, and Taormina. All appear to be painted by the same hand, in gouache and watercolor on paper, each with black painted border, each with hand inscribed identification of the site in the lower black painted border, each watercolor tipped to the laid paper sheets (some are loose). Bearing penciled registration numbers from the Cleveland Museum of Art registrar's office dating to 1929-1934. The exterior of the folio inscribed "Thirty nine views in this book by Guardi, " probably referring to Giacomo Guardi (1764-1835) and bearing a partial handwritten label "Views in Sici..."

Overall in very good condition. Exterior of folio weathered and worn from age and use. The gouaches are in very good condition with light oxidation to the black borders. Some light scattered foxed spots to some of the pages. Very minor scattered foxing to the paintings themselves and scattered light fading throughout the paintings. Some old scattered notations to versos in pencil or ink here and there. The book is bound with watermarked laid paper.
