A French (Choisy-Le-Roi) majolica cockatoo & beetle double vase
designed by Paul Comolera
fourth quarter 19th century
Black printed factory signature entwined HB mark for H. Boulanger & Cie above France, impressed 879.
height 19in (48.3cm); width 17 1/2in (44.5cm); depth 13in (33cm)

Condition

Crazing overall. One pink flowerhead with chip to underside of petals. One of his wing feathers with chip loss. One small chip to front of foot rim. Chip to the tip of his top beak. A few scattered firing cracks. Surface dirt in crevices. No noteable fluorescence under UV light.
