A lot of two antique silver coins, reproductions of the Grand Tour. The first coin dates back to the reign of Alexander the Great. The obverse of the first tetradrachm depicts the head of Hercules in a lion's skin, and a seated Zeus on the reverse. The second coin is a reproduction of tetradrachms from the 5th century BC. The obverse depicts the head of the goddess Athena. On the reverse is an owl, a companion of the goddess, a symbol of wisdom, knowledge, and insight. Such objects were a popular souvenir production during the Grand Tour era, the 17th to early 19th century custom of a traditional European trip, with Italy as a key destination, undertaken by upper class young European men.
