GORILLAS IN THE MIST (1988) - Gorilla Face Appliance Bust - A gorilla face appliance bust from the production of Michael Apted's Gorillas in the Mist. Primatologist Dian Fossey (Sigourney Weaver) infiltrated a band of gorillas in Rwanda and fought for their survival. The gorillas were portrayed with a combination of animatronics and human performers.

Created by special makeup effects artist Rick Baker's Cinovation Studios, this black foam latex ape face appliance is hand-punched with black synthetic fur and dressed on a stiff foam bust for stability. The latex exhibits visible crumbling and cracking around the edges from age, and the bust remains fragile.
