Dr. Arroway worked on deciphering signal codes she received from space when S.R. Hadden (John Hurt) revealed he had been watching her and her work by showing her a video of her childhood including her yearbook photo at MIT and an article from her childhood achievements.

This lot consists of two printed "Certificate of Live Birth State of Wisconsin" birth certificates with one featuring handwritten signatures; one black-and-white printed article of young Ellie with the caption "Local Girl Wins Science Fair Award Three Years Running"; one black-and-white printed yearbook page proof of the MIT Senior's page with a photo of Eleanor Arroway; and one white and blue acrylic-wool H-Kap snap-back hat featuring a science patch on the front and a green underside visor.
